    PJMD's Notes:
    Birth Date - circa 1900
William volunteered to serve in the armed forces in 1916 (n.b. likely to be 1914), giving a false age, claiming to be 18, whereas he was in fact only 16. He was awarded the military medal and went back 'up the line' shortly afterwards. Nothing further is known about him by Denis other than he had afinger missing. He does not believe that William ever married.
Lily said that her gran, Bill's mom, was bitter that they didnt check his age. After he died Lily said that her gran lost interest in life.
William lived at the corner shop, 226 Green Lane, Wasall. Peter's Nana & Grandad lived until January 1931 at 225 Green Lane, where Peter's dad and Denis were born.
